HTTP status code 504: Gateway Time-out

Hi,

I just installed RapidAnalytics on my computer (Win 7 64). All works well in the web interface.

If I try to connect RapidMiner via a remote repository access to RapidAnalytics, I get an error message:

Exception: com.sun.xml.internals.ws.client.ClientTransportException
Message: The server sent HTTP status code 504: Gateway Time-out
...
Can anyone help me with this error message? I configured the Repository URL by: http://localhost:8080/
Browse and Administer (Web interface) works from RapidMiner (by starting a browser) but not the rest,
i.e. connecting and working with the repository.

Meanwhile I tried to start RapidMiner from RapidAnalytics by Web-Start.
    Now I get the error:
    ...
Message: The server sent HTTP status code 404: Not Found
    ...
The web interface still works  ???

    Hi,

as it looks, this is a network problem. Are RM and RA are on the same server? Do you need to set a proxy? Do you use an IP address or a hostname? 127.0.0.1 or 192.168.x?

    Best,
    Simon

    Ok, lucky twist ...

I just did shutdown the entire server and startet it again, afterwards I got the original error 504.

Then I deactivated all proxy settings and voila - all works. I really get the impression, that the usage of proxy is
suboptimal implemented in RM, since if I use https proxy I cannont connect to databases and if I use
http proxy (or maybe also ftp proxy) I cannot connect to the RA repository.

If I remove both I cannot longer connect to Rapid-I to get updates ?!?!?!?!??!?!

Is there any chance to fix this behaviour in future versions of RM?
