"video tutorial not matching experience"

Hi, it's my first day using RapidMiner!
I decided to watch the tutorial first because I was getting stumped too many times.
I'm watching http://rapid-i.com/videos/tutorials/01_rm5_gui/rm5_gui.html and it says that after I click New on the welcome page, I'll be prompted to create a location for the new process (about 58 seconds in). But that doesn't happen. It just goes right to the design perspective. Is that because it's not the first time I'm opening the program or has something changed?

that's probably because it's not the first start. All processes are stored in a so-called Repository, and that needs to be configured only once. You can create a new repository by clicking the green plus "+" on top of the repository view. Then you should see a dialog similar to the one from the video.
