I have downloaded and unzip it. I use Ubuntu 12.04

Cannot start rapidminer:

$ cd apps/rapidminer/

~/apps/rapidminer$ echo $JAVA_HOME

~/apps/rapidminer$ java -version

    this is no bug of RapidMiner but of the OpenJDK that you are using.
    It seems that their implementation of

    has a serious problem. Please install another JDK and try to start RapidMiner again.

    Thank you. I visited and installed Oracle (Sun) JRE.
